Colbert on Bush: A Good use of YouTube
Conservative super-blogger Michele Malkin says it wasn't funny and anyone who thinks it was is a moonbat. I believe that moonbats make a barking sound, if I remember correctly.

(Page 1)2. Moultrie, I wish it was funnier. But there were parts at least that I found quite funny. Plus, if you believe that the dynasty turns into Icke-like reptiles every night before bed then it took a fearlessness before death to make those jokes. :) kidding, mostly.

3. Stephen always talked about how he got balls on his show and that night he proved it.
Given the context that was pretty damn funny.
He pretty much insulted every one there, including the president of the United States, on CSPAN, mind you, not the fryers club on comedy central.

4. So, have you watched Colbert's bit at the dinner? In my humble opinion it was better than the Colbert report. Seriously better. He got in the grille of the Pres, the Joint Chiefs, The VP, the washington report wh ores, the press secretary, Karl Rove and many more in 20 fun-packed minutes. This was as big a tour de force as the fake miss america. Just like her, he walked the walk of satire, not just the talk.
A+, Stephen, A+. Now, if only someone was really going to change because of that.

5. 750,000 views and counting! Now that's impressive.

6. Youtube has removed colbert's video, I believe at the behest of CSPAN, which, according to Wikipedia, has been accused of having a conservative bias. There is a feeling among some lawmakers that its broadcasts should be public domain.

7. I was just saying last night to my friend that it wasn't funny. (He disagreed, but we both loved it.) That's not the point, though. Sure, he was less in his usual TV character (the self-riteous dumbass) and more of a bitterly sarcastic smart alec. That sounds like an insult -- and would be under different circumstances -- if it weren't for the fact that his message was so ballsy, so needed in these wussy times of trouble. Since he is one of the very few to speak the truth (or at least call attention to its absence using irony) in public -- right in Bush's face -- I was pleasantly shocked and awed. Bravo!
8. Colbert is the straightest shooter in the US. Why do some people simply refuse to see the message that needs to be understood?
Something is terribly wrong in the US and it wouldn't be so bad if it were only affecting itself - but it brings the rest of us down with it.

9. In CSPAN's defense, they've put up a video of the full evening at much better quality up on Google Video. It's over at http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-4973617448770513925 and the server seems quite fast; it's very watchable.

10. Good call on that one Matt. The CSpan press release on this is worth a scan too.

1. Sorry Marshall, but I have to agree with Michelle. Colbert has been funny occasionally on his own show, but he just doesn't make it as standup. Saturday's effort was pretty pitiful.
